I am so excited about a new skating dress costume I made with Betty’s Irish rose smooth velvet and the bumpy coral lace she carries. I used the lace in the upper bodice with the Irish smooth velvet in the bottom bodice, top skirt and arms. I had tiny cap sleeves made with the bumpy lace and used the edging on the fabric itself for the edge of the tiny oversleeves. Where the bumpy lace met the smooth velvet in the mid bodice I decorated with three layers of stones: 30ss crystal ab with 16ss abs under those and the bottom layer was the crystal pears. So it has a very elaborate glitzy look in the middle. Then for the underskirt and neck edge I used the irish rose glimmerette.
What I am psyched about is this same possibility could be done in the turquoise and other shades of bumpy lace/smooth velvet.
